Packaging

The box is prepared for the packaging of the 3 types of materials:
  • Frozen
  • Refrigerated
  • Room
    temperature

The equipment has three divisions, each one being for the usual temperatures.

Frozen samples are packed at liquid nitrogen container .

All materials packed at this place take about 11 minutes to frozen.

Endurance Structure

The N2Biobox has dimensions that are compatible with most transportation vehicles in the biological sector, no requiring any structural, electrical, or external vehicle adaptation.

It has high strength and durability, due to the material manufacture: stainless steel.

It guarantee and integrity of the same are maintained.

Main Structures

  • The packaging box for biological samples was built by: 

    Stainless steel;
    Thermal insulating material;
    Aluminum;
    Vacuum;
    Plastic;
    Anti-shock material.

The external area was produced with stainless steel, followed by an expansive polyurethane layer, and another layer of stainless steel, finishing the internal part.

It has 03 compartments, one for each type of packaging. At the site of the frozen samples, there is a nitrogen cylinder. It’s composed of an outer aluminum’s wall, attached to a second layer also of aluminum.

Subsequent to these two layers, there is a nitrogen storage compartment.

Inside there are sponges capable of absorbing liquid nitrogen in case of tipping, thus avoiding leaks and risk of accident.

To close the cylinder, a cap descends through the neck of the same, made with foam and plastic.

Safety

The N2BioBox has a liquid absorption system and a valve that allows the evacuation of the nitrogen gases out of the vehicle. Even in case of tipping, the calculated hazards are minimized to the driver.

System Economy

With experience in the sample transport market, it is common knowledge that routes to support laboratories typically use 3 kg (about 2.20 pounds) of dry ice per day.

Using as base the values of dry ice and nitrogen practiced in Belo Horizonte city (Minas Gerais state), a comparative calculation follows:

TEMPERATURE CONTROL AND VALIDATION

On January 20, 2016, the N2Biobox box was validated and the temperature measurement was done on the Data-logger mini and the gun. The route used had its exit at 09:30 am and arrived at 05:30 p.m. The temperatures of the N2Biobox box were within the range for refrigerated samples, from 2ºC (35.6 ºF) to 8ºC (46.4 ºF), with acceptable variation about 2ºC (35.6 ºF).

LOOK THIS:

The IR pistol grips with a minimum limit of up to -20 ° C (about -4ºF) . So, liquid nitrogen is usually used with temperature below -150 ° C (about -238 ºF).

Therefore, the numbers was analyzed with fact of the material being frozen from the beginning until the end of the transport. The material’s temperature fixedness is for long periods. In addition, liquid nitrogen provides a fast freezing.
